We submitted our first application at the end of March 2004. We received approvals faster than we could have ever expected, and our agency helped us every step of the way! They were there to answer phone calls and emails when we felt we were a little overwhelmed with papers. We made it through and our paperwork was logged in China on October 8, 2004, and I think the next 6 months were the hardest ones because of the waiting and the not knowing. But on April 18, 2004 we received THE CALL! It was referral day! We were told that we were the proud family to a little girl that was 10 months old and that she was in Fuling, China. We were also given her name: Fu Ai Yu, and the name means, Fu (blessed), Ai (Love) Yu (canopy of Heaven). We were all beside ourselves and the tears started! We received our first pictures of Hope on April 20, 2005, and a few weeks later we were told that we would leave for China on June 15th. Our Gotcha Day would be June 19, 2005--Father's Day! What a day that was; she was an angel! There was an instant bond and she knew that she was forever ours. One of the most amazing things was on the flight back home, my husband was going through some emails and found an old one I had sent to him from work. One of my friends and I would pray together each day on our break. She told me the following words “God wants you to know that Hope has been born and that He is going to take care of her until you get there!" We went back and looked at the date: June 25, 2004. Hope was born on June 24, 2004! GOD IS AWESOME! Our little girl was given the name: Hope Noelle AiFu—her name means-trust, joy, love, blessed—because we trusted God for her. She has such joy, shares love always and has blessed our family more than we could ever imagine. We had applied for a grant from Show Hope, but hadn't heard anything. During our stay in China, there was a problem with the computers at the Consulate and we had to stay 3 days longer than expected, but we knew that God was in control of it all. He had already told us that HE was our provider. We were home from China for just a few days and had gone to a church service and heard the Pastor say, “Who needs a booster shot of faith? You have been given a promise from God and you haven't seen it happen yet?” We had entered the service fairly subdued because of the complications that had caused us financial problems. We were one of the first ones to go forward for prayer. After that Tuesday night service, we came home and checked our mail box, in it was a letter from Show Hope saying that we had received a grant! God is so faithful! We want to say thank you the Show Hope family for helping us bring our Hope home! Adopting Hope has been the best thing that we have ever done as a family. It started with the heart of 3 year-old that heard from God, and continued through the faithful prayers of our friends and family, and finally we were able to fly to China and pick up Hope Noelle AiFu Kovach. What a blessing she has been to all that meet her. We can’t imagine life without her! When she smiles, she lights up the room, and when she laughs, she melts the hardest of hearts. We know that when God calls you to do something, He provides all that you need to do what He has laid on your heart.
